God of wisdom and longevity. Sometimes God of wealth too. It is often mistaken for “Fukurokuju” because they both inhabit the same body… Jurojin blesses the people of a long life and brings them the wisdom he holds in the scroll hanging from his stick. In this scroll is written the lifetime of every living thing. It is also said that there is written in it the good and evil deeds committed by all living beings.
He is one of the 7 gods of luck/happiness in Japanese folklore, they are called «shichifukujin» and they are prayed at the beginning of the year.
These deities arrive on a big boat named « Takarabune » to spread happiness, wealth and luck in their path.
